The General Direction of Traffic in Spain (DGT) has a series of data systems in which it records information on accidents in the country and generates indicators.
With the help of Apiux talent, these systems are permanently maintained, corrected and evolved to provide more accurate statistics that allow the DGT to improve its management.
The challenge
The DGT, on its web portal, records the number of daily, monthly and annual accidents. It also maps the safest roads and the areas with the most accidents in the country.
It does so by means of 114 tables that are constantly evolving and updated. This public institution had the challenge of modernizing this system, with the objective of training a predictive model for the future that would allow it to have more accurate indicators and make better decisions to reduce accident rates in Spain.
The solution
A cell composed of four programmer analysts (2 of them Apiux consultants) is in charge of providing support, cleaning the code and adding new tables in the system, in order to maintain constant evolutionary corrections of this system.
The results
We have been able to support the accident data system and also other DGT systems, through sprints delivered every three months.
«We are working with SAS Viya, producing reports for the DGT, with accident data processing. This tool allows us to run SAS procedures, and we have all the libraries to produce the reports. Later on, we intend to elaborate statistics that will have an impact on the reduction of road accidents», said Javier Esteban Urquiza, SAS Programmer Analyst in Apiux.
